Professional Statement
I joined the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC’s Division of Medical Genetics in May of 2006, after graduating from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling. I completed my undergraduate work at Washington and Jefferson College (W&J), where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2004. While at W&J, I was a member of the Phi Sigma biological Honorary Society. I am certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors, and am a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
My clinical interests include inherited metabolic disorders and newborn screening. I previously worked as a clinical genetic counselor in the Department of Medical Genetics until 2012 when I transitioned to research working as a research coordinator with clinical trials primarily involving fatty acid oxidation disorders. As an educator, I have provided lectures on genetics and metabolism at the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health and to other University of Pittsburgh graduate students.
